HEX by Relax Gaming – Game Overview
HEX is a dark and theatrical video slot from Relax Gaming, built around a sinister travelling carnival where magic shows, fortune tellers and eerie performers hide potentially valuable prizes. Its spooky visual style, atmospheric soundtrack and feature-driven gameplay make it a natural pick for players who enjoy supernatural themes with plenty of suspense between spins.
The game takes place on a 5-reel, 4-row layout and uses 1,024 ways to form winning combinations. Wins are created by landing matching symbols on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel. The slot is designed for real-money casino play, but the core rules are simple enough for newcomers to understand after a few spins.

Symbols and Base Game Mechanics
HEX combines standard playing-card symbols with detailed character and carnival-themed icons. Lower-paying symbols generally include card values, while the premium symbols are represented by the game’s mysterious performers and occult-inspired characters.
Wild symbols can substitute for regular paying symbols to help complete wins. Scatter symbols are particularly important because they can open the door to the game’s main free-round mode. Keep an eye on the reels whenever these special symbols begin to appear: they are often the sign that the action is about to take a darker turn.
The base game can also feature winning combinations that build momentum before the main bonus round begins. As with many high-variance slots, longer quiet spells can happen, but the larger feature outcomes are where much of HEX’s excitement is concentrated.
Free Rounds and Feature Action
The central attraction in HEX is its free-spin mode. Landing the required number of Scatter symbols triggers a set of complimentary spins, where the game introduces additional effects designed to increase winning potential.
During this mode, special symbols and modifiers can become more important. Depending on the feature outcome, players may encounter expanding, transforming or multiplier-style mechanics that can improve the value of a successful combination. The carnival setting becomes increasingly intense as the feature unfolds, creating a strong sense of anticipation with every reel spin.
In casinos where it is available, HEX may also offer a direct-buy option. This lets eligible players pay an additional amount to enter the feature without waiting for Scatter symbols to land naturally. It is worth noting that this option is not available in every jurisdiction and can use stakes much higher than a standard spin.
How to Play HEX

- Review the paytable for symbol values and feature rules.
- Press Spin to start the reels, or enable autoplay if the casino offers it.
