Gems Bonanza by Pragmatic Play: Slot Review
Gems Bonanza is a colourful online slot from Pragmatic Play that swaps traditional reels for a treasure-filled game board. Rather than lining up symbols across paylines, players aim to form matching clusters on an 8x8 grid. With cascading wins, multiplier gems, a feature-packed free spins round and an optional bonus purchase, this title is designed for players who enjoy fast-moving, grid-based video slots.
The theme is simple but effective: sparkling jewels, golden nuggets and a mine-like setting create a bright treasure-hunting atmosphere. It is easy to pick up, yet the main bonus round adds an extra layer of strategy and anticipation.

How Gems Bonanza Works
Gems Bonanza uses an 8x8 playing area. A win is created when five or more matching gems connect horizontally or vertically. When a winning cluster lands, those symbols disappear and new ones drop into the empty spaces. This creates the possibility of several consecutive wins from one paid spin.
The standard gems come in different colours, while gold symbols can become particularly valuable during the main feature. Each cascade can change the board and create new opportunities, so it is worth watching until all drops have finished before starting another spin.
The game includes standard stake controls, an autoplay option where permitted, and an information section explaining the symbol values and feature rules. New players may want to try the demo version first to understand how clusters, cascades and multipliers interact.
Free Spins Bonus Game
The main attraction in Gems Bonanza is the free spins feature. It is activated by landing enough bonus symbols during the base game. Once triggered, the grid changes into a bonus board where gold symbols may turn into multiplier positions.
During the feature, special gems can land on these gold spaces. When they do, the multiplier value is collected and can grow over the course of the round. These enhanced positions remain active, meaning later drops can benefit from multipliers already built on the grid. This persistence creates the potential for increasingly exciting cascades as the free spins continue.
This is the part of the game that gives Gems Bonanza its strongest identity. A quiet base game can quickly turn into a busy bonus board filled with gold spaces and escalating multiplier opportunities.
Bonus Purchase Option
In jurisdictions where it is allowed, Gems Bonanza may offer a direct-buy option that takes players straight to the free spins round for a set cost. This is often called a feature purchase. It can be appealing to players who want immediate access to the game’s main mechanic, but it also uses a larger stake in one go. Check the in-game menu for availability, as bonus purchase features are restricted in some markets.
